Здравтвуйте! Меня зовут Екатерина …

I am Yekaterina – well not in real life – but for this blog I am. I gave this name to myself years ago, before I even knew a single word in Russian. I liked it so much in fact, that I created a sign out of it which you can even find tattoed on my back. And as I am getting a little crazy sometimes I recently decided that the sign alone is not enough – so very soon a picture of the fairy herself will be found (together with the sign of course – can’t get rid of that). I can’t say she will be a true winter fairy … she still admires the singularity of each snowflake, but she has fire too. So maybe I should change the name 🙂

The “Russian Winterfairy” was indeed created while I spent some month in the lovely region of Onega Lake, Karelia. And it sometimes felt like winter would never go away. I remember how happy I was when I finally found out the ice was going to melt from the lake in May and there is actually water beneath it.

I really enjoyed my time in lovely Karelia, in the meantime even travelled to more northern points than that. Still I like to find out about other places too, not only in Russia but the world. And I will do so – the next adventure is just around the corner.

The blog shall be more of a diary, writing down thoughts I have. It may though continue episodes from my journeys to the world’s biggest country 🙂

For now my home is the lovely city of Innsbruck surround by the Austrian Alps. This is quite convenient as I really do love hiking and being on top of a mountain. It is my home for now.  Home is where the heart is – they say. We’ll see where time will take me.

Oh yes – and I really love coffee – you’ll see 🙂

You are welcome to enjoy a cup with me!
